Skilled Worker salary thresholds

The general salary thresholds and going-rate percentages for every points option in Appendix Skilled Worker, with a lookup for any SOC code.

Rules checked against GOV.UK: 6 November 2026

To get a Skilled Worker visa you usually need a salary of at least £41,700 a year, and at least the going rate for your job, whichever is higher. You can be paid less if you're a new entrant, have a relevant PhD, your job is on the Immigration Salary List, or it's a health or education job.

Find the minimum for your job

Pick your occupation code in the lookup below, or open your job's page from the code list. Each job page shows its minimum salary in plain numbers.

All the salary options

The rules call these "points options". Each one is a different minimum for a different situation. Options A to E are for most people.

Which options can you use?

Most people use options A to E. The others only apply in these cases (SW 4.2):

  • Options F to J apply where the job is a Health and Care ASHE salary job, or where the date of application is before 4 April 2030, the applicant was granted permission as a Skilled Worker under the rules in place before 4 April 2024, and has had continuous permission as a Skilled Worker since then.
  • Option K applies to jobs in a health or education code listed in Table 3 or Table 3a of Appendix Skilled Occupations. Going rates there are national pay scales: see health and education rates.

Options A–E use going rates from Tables 1 and 1a, and options F–J use Tables 2, 2aa and 2a. See going rates and when you can be paid less.

Threshold lookup by SOC code

Choose a code to see the general threshold and going-rate figure side by side for each option, and the higher of the two. This shows the published figures only. It does not say which option applies to anyone.

What counts as salary

  • Only your guaranteed basic pay counts, before tax (SW 14.1).
  • Overtime, shift pay and pay that depends on changing hours don't count (SW 14.2).
  • The figures are for a 37.5-hour week. They go up or down if your contract has more or fewer hours.
